What to expect
Here are some pics from last years ProtoHackspedition.
Accomodation
- 3 nights in the city - Accomodation is provided by Mexican DevHousers. Most people will accept 2-3 US DevHousers.
- 1 night in Camps - Accomodation will be in bungalows (very basic)
Weather
- Mexico City: Expect sunny days (75-85 ºF) w/rain during the afternoon evening. Rain in Mexico City tends to be very heavy, so bring your jacket.
- Veracruz (the trip): Expect hot/humid weather (85-95 ºF) w/rain during short periods (15-30 min) at any time during the day.
Disclaimer: I'm no metheorologist.
Packing the bag
In Mexico, weather changes so much during the day that we tend to dress in layers, so we can adapt to the conditions. So...
- Bring light clothing (summer clothing) + a light sweater + a rain jacket
- Important: You will need to wear sneakers or wet shoes during the rafting (NOT sandals)
Expenses
- Mexican DevHousers are welcoming you into their homes so you won't have to pay for 3 nights of accomodation + maybe some meals.
- Transportation in the city will be provided by Mexican DevHousers too.
- The trip to Veracruz will cost around $150 USD (all inclusive).
- Others meals (at restaurants) will cost from $5-$20 USD (depending on the place, of course)
- Just as a reference:
- Starbucks Large Latte = $3.25
- McMeal = $4.80
- Museum ticket = $5.00
- Beer @ bar = $3.00
- Coke (355ml) @ Minimarket = $0.45
Payment Options
- Credit cards are widely accepted (VISA/Mastercard/AMEX).
- You can bring USD and exchange at the airport or any bank.
- That been said, you will only need around $100 USD in cash (if you bring your card)
- For the trip, it would be great if you could pay to one of us via PayPal.

Hi folks, I'm very excited about this, it's almost time for the hackspedition !
Two questions.
Where will we arrive from our way back from Veracruz to Mexico City ? (Bus terminal?)
If we depart at 1800, what is the arrival time to Mexico ?
